WCHA Development Camps

Western Canada
Hockey Academy

Welcome to the WCHA – the first hockey academy for the Brandon and Westman Region, for students in grades 5/6, 7/8, and high school.

Focused on the balance of hockey development and education, the WCHA allows students to develop their hockey skills while receiving education to complement their sporting achievements.

Facility

Players are offered high quality training facilities to go along with an NHL-size ice surface within the hockey development centre in Brandon’s west end. Included within the facility is a performance centre for improving a player’s strength and fitness level. The development centre also includes a 6 lane—100 metre track which will help increase a player’s speed, mobility, and explosiveness.

Academics

Students from grades five through eight spend their days focusing on both Academics and Hockey. Hockey training takes place both on the main ice and VHP Mini Rinks; off ice, students train at the MNP Performance Centre. The WCHA middle school athletes focus on six core subjects; Math, English Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, Health, and Art.

Every athlete coming through our program receives on-ice and off-ice skill based training over the course of one year, developing the best and brightest that Westman has to offer.
