WCHA Hire McGill as New Director of Goalie Development

The Western Canadian Hockey Academy (WCHA) is excited to announce the hiring of Colin McGill of Chase, BC as the Director of Goalie Development for the WCHA. Colin will also serve as the Assistant Goalie Coach for the Brandon Wheat Kings (BWK) of the WHL. Colin has been serving dual roles as Associate Coach and Goalie Coach for the Chase Heat of the KIJHL in British Columbia.
Colin’s passion for developing goaltenders and willingness to take the next step in his coaching career has led him to the Wheat City. Wheat King Goalie Coach Tyler Plante added “I was thrilled with Colin during the interview process. He is very detail oriented, his teaching foundation is technically sound, and his passion for making others better is his top priority. Our West-Man goaltenders will be in very good hands.”
When asked about relocating to Brandon and joining the WCHA and BWK organizations, Colin said, ““I’m extremely excited to join both the WCHA and Brandon Wheat Kings organization. It was important to me to be with an amazing organization that has strong core values and has a true passion for not only developing great athletes but great people. I can’t wait to get working with our goaltending community and offer a wide range of experience gained working with amazing coaches from all over the globe. The facilities offered by WCHA are world class and gives a great platform to provide the best level of coaching and mentorship. I look forward to joining the Brandon community and can’t wait to see you all that the rink.”
Colin will start full time at the WCHA on August 8th, 2023. The WCHA would like to recognize the contributions of Tyson Verhelst in building a great foundation for goalie development at the WCHA and thank Tyler Plante and Max Paddock for their contributions in the transition to continue to provide high level instruction and programming during the transition of Tyson to his new career.
